Programme Introduction
This 3-week intensive programme is designed for nurses and midwives who intend to work in developing countries. The course will provide a wide knowledge base, incorporating laboratory work, clinical aspects of infectious diseases, child health, sexual health, neglected tropical diseases, non-communicable diseases as well as professional topics such as leading change, governance and ethics.

Who Should Attend
This Diploma course is available to registered nurses and midwives. It is recommended that you have a minimum of 2 years post qualification experience. The programme is taught in English.

A Complete Learning Package The delivery includes a range of formal lectures, a hands-on laboratory sessions, and group work.
The DTN begins with a 2 week period of self-study before commencing an intensive, three week taught element. It concludes with a 3 week assessment period supported by on-line tutoring. This format of concentrated contact time combined with flexible self-study makes the programme accessible to participants concurrently engaged in professional practice.
Assessment
The assessments are designed to encourage participants to develop their clinical knowledge as well as a range of practical-nursing skills (e.g. using lab-based techniques for diagnosis and the basic nursing care of a patient with a particular disease or health problem).
